40s Vintage Men's Vest Pullover Brown Checked Medium$30.00
DETAILS: This kind of men's vest is relatively uncommon - check front but not part of a suit, pullover but not a full-on sweater vest. It's a great combination of geek and hipster, naive and ironic. I could easily see it paired with a bow tie for a Jimmy Olsen classic Superman look.
The vest has a minicheck weave in front and stretchy jersey in back. It is the typical shorter length you see prior in the 40s and 50s, and is designed with a vee-neck, and two slash besom handwarmer pockets that are bound in coordinating fabric.
SIZE: Labeled Medium. Measurements taken with vest laying flat - back does some some stretch
Chest - 36. 5" (93 cm)
Length from back of neck - 21" (53. 25 cm)
Bottom hem circumference - 36" (91. 5 cm)
COLORS/FABRIC: The front is woven fabric in brown and cream. Brown pocket trim is gabardine. The vest back is knit jersey, also brown, feels like a lighter version of old-time bathing suit knit, so probably has some wool in it. The vest front is lined in a pinkish brown acetate type fabric.
TAGS: No maker's tag found
CLOSURES: N/A, the vest pulls on over the head.
CONDITION: I found a single small hole above the right pocket, and a short linear hole along the bottom edge, near the right side seam - see closeups. No other issues noted.
