This bead and sequin-trimmed, mocha brown wool 1940s jacket by Eisenberg and Sons is a lovely example of their clothing line, as opposed to their more well-known costume jewelry. This classic 1940s short swing jacket has medium-sized shoulder pads, and small gathers at the top of the straight, three-quarter-length sleeves, to create a full shape. The body of the jacket is boxy, with the same width at the bust as at the hip-length hem. The jacket has no fastenings, and is lined with copper rayon crepe. The medium-weight twill weave (diagonal weave) wool makes it feel more like a lightweight, cropped coat, than a typical suit jacket for indoor wear. Hand-sewn, iridescent brown glass beading and sequins are used to create the lovely floral designs scattered over the entire jacket. In very good condition, this 1940s Eisenberg and Sons Original jacket has some faded areas visible on the lining fabric only—the wool outer layer and the beading are in great condition, with no flaws to note.
