Dubarry Of New York
40s Rhinestone Studded Midnight Blue Rayon Gown with Batwing Sleeves by Dubarry of New York Dress of Charm by Dubarry Of New York$150.00
A beautiful rich blue large size formal gown for a taller gal, so one photo with belt, and one without. My form is shorter waisted, so the bodice draped a bit, when the belt picture was taken. Hence a picture without the belt to show what it would look like on someone who really fits the dress. This is a classic evening gown of the times. There are a few cosmetic flaws, but structurally, the gown is extremely sound and sturdy. I suspect the original shoulder pads were taken out, and larger ones were put in, because the fabric is different from the dress fabric. The cosmetic flaws are 2 stains from perspiration, which discolored the fabric, and the belt buckle is a bit frayed. There is a very minor amount of fade on the right hand seam on the lower skirt. I think a silvery or beaded bolero jacket would easily hide the arm stains, and an art deco rhinestone buckle could replace the frayed one. The belt has no creases or cracks, like many of that era . All the rhinestones are there, and there are no rips or tears or other stains. A metal zipper is on the left side of the dress. Go by measurements. Normally a dress of this pedigree would go for $250, but because of the flaws, I am asking $150. Still a good deal. Good for stage or film extras.
