40s Periwinkle Blue Plastic,thermoplastic Brass Choker$45.00
This necklace is a great blue color and made of very early cast, thermoplastic beads. The periwinkle blue, ribbed beads are 7/8 inch with .25 inch round beads. The chain is a brass, circa 1930's chain. This necklace is special since it appears to be an early attempt at the newly found material of plastic, so has been matched with an earlier chain. It closes with a brass hook and plastic ball closure. It is 15.5 inches which is a small choker size and will fit a small female neck. It will adjust down to a smaller neck.
This early plastic necklace is circa 1945 and made by a high end costume jewelry maker of the time. The first half of the 20th century was the heyday for well made costume jewelry sold from fine department stores to Woolworth, usually made in Europe or the United States. The manufacture and quality of costume jewelry deteriorated in the latter part of the century making this era the last with enduring products.
Necromance sells this type of vintage necklace often since it was well made and had unique design.
