A formal silky rayon scarf, for a man, made in the 1940s. Distinctive stripes of weave, and impeccable long fringe, makes this soft, luxurious scarf very special and rare. Tag was cut off, but probably just said "pure rayon", or Pure silk. Hard to tell, but most scarves of this type were rayon. Normally, these were white and worn with a tuxedo, if you have ever seen a Fred Astaire film, you know what I mean. Perhaps a dark scarf went with a white tux? not sure. These scarves are warm, and go with jeans or a leather bomber jacket , just as well with anything else. Pilots and aviators also made them very chic. There is one small spot, the size of a pin head, that will most likely, come out with a dry clean. See close up. The scarf is a tube, and double thick. the scarf is 46 long and the fringe is 3 inches long on each end, so the total length is 52" total. the width is 12" wide. Treated well, this scarf will last another 75 years! Great gift! Just need a clean and a press.
