Nettie Rosenstein
40s Designer Nip Waist Gabardine Suit Jacket

Elegant with a stylish edge! A long lean and curvy jacket, with moderately padded shoulders and an oversized collar with curving notched spaniel-ear lapels. Cuffs are also notched so that the bottom 2" can be turned up if desired. The jacket has faux handwarmer pocket flaps.

SIZE: No size label
Bust - 39" 99
Shoulders - 15" 38
Waist - 30" 76
Length - 25.75" 65.5
Sleeve length - 23.5" 59.75

FABRIC/COLORS: Medium weight finely woven gabardine suiting, most likely wool in a rich shade of dark blue - not nearly as dark as navy. The jacket is fully lined in dark blue crepe - feels like silk.

TAGS: Nettie Rosenstein, and another tag for the shop, L.L. Berger, Buffalo N.Y. Nettie Rosenstein was in business from 1931 to 1961. She paid more attention than most designers to fitting larger body types. She became best known for her Little Black Dresses, and for designing both of Mamie Eisenhower's inaugural ballgowns. (Biography information adapted from the VFG label resource)

CLOSURES: Six self fabric ringed buttons with bound buttonholes.

CONDITION: There is some mild "ring around the collar" discoloration at the back of the neck - see closeup. It should come out with dry cleaning, but I don't have a local cleaner that I trust. It is not seen when worn, nor is the tiny hole inside the collar that can also be seen in the closeup.
