This dress is soooooo fantastic! She has seen a lot in 80 years, and she has been seen a lot--deservedly--there is incredible attention to draping and tucking on the sweetheart bodice, extremely flattering, and the best use of big shoulder pads I've ever seen. AND she has a shirred peplum and a long skirt that flares out at back.

She *could* be wearable by someone small who doesn't mind the little holes and worn spots. Structurally, she does seem sound. She might be usable as a costume for a photo shoot or a dress for one last fabulous night of dress life.

The issues: As the photos show, there are little holes all over; some are the size of a pinprick, and others come closer to a pencil eraser. There's also a large series of holes in the front from about knee to ankle; a former wearer must have stepped through the skirt. Those holes are stained, and there are other spots--about 20 of them--throughout. I don't know if they'd come out with a soak; I have not tried. There is some fading on the left shoulder, and the right shoulder and entire neckline are starting to fray along the topstitched edges. If you were to wear this dress, I'd definitely recommend shortening because of the big holes.

Closure is with a metal zipper on the side. I believe the jersey is a blend of cotton and rayon, and that it has stretched at the back of the neck and the shoulders.

So condition is poor, but oh! she is lovely. I don't have the heart to cut her up to make a pattern. I've learned about draping from looking at her bodice. I hope someone else can enjoy her in some way ... If she doesn't sell rather quickly, I will probably keep her, because I think she has lots of lessons still to teach.
