40s Burgundy Red Wool Coat With Zip-out Wool Lining$95.00
This burgundy red wool, ladies’ 1940s coat has striking, large and squared-off shoulder pads, large buttons, and topstitched seaming on the sleeve cuffs and rounded shoulder yoke. Designed for warmth as well as style, the coat is made of heavyweight burgundy wool, plus it has a secret! The sleeves and upper half of the coat have a zip-out lining of burgundy rayon taffeta on the visible side, with an additional layer of navy blue wool knit fabric on its underside. The zip-out lining features ribbed knit cuffs inside, to keep the chill out! The entire coat has a second lining of taffeta, so that when the zip-out lining is removed, the coat is still fully lined. The coat has 2 pockets, just above the hips. The plastic buttons have some scratches to their surface, and the right pocket has a small mend at its lower edge. This well-made true vintage 1940s coat has no other flaws to note, and is in very good condition. This practical sort of coat was likely worn frequently (not just for special occasions), but its quality materials and construction have really stood the test of time, and should last quite a while longer!
