1940's RARE and Collectible PLASTICFLEX Brown Tile Clutch

This Lovely 1940's Clutch is done in a Beautiful Warm Brown Colorway. The Condition is Excellent with no broken tiles, zipper, or fabric deterioration. It even has a little Faux Tortoiseshell Pull for the Zipper.

During WWII many materials were being utilized Overseas and Plastic was a Great Alternative for Handbags and Womens Accessories. This handbag is made of linked two tone brown plastic squares and leather cord. It opens with a metal zipper. It is lined in brown and there is a slide pocket. There is not a label inside. The style and fabrication indicate this is a Plasticflex. The patent for the Plasticflex Brand Name was Granted in September of 1941 and the US entered into WWII after Pearly Harbor in December of 1942. It may be even older than the typical tile plasticflex. It could be that this clutch was made prior to the patent release.
