This is an absolute killer 40s costume. The costume consists of two pieces: the peplum jacket and the gown. The jacket has a high neckline in black sequin trim. At the center front, it closes with two hooks and eyes. It is made of a nude rayon satin that is covered in a black floral lace that is sequined. It zips down the front with a large metal zipper and has shoulder pads to give it a sharp tailored look, so iconic of the 40s. It has long sleeves that are fitted at the cuff and zip up, one of my favorite period details. The cuffs also have fun lace frills attached. The jacket is fitted to the natural waist and it has a very voluminous full peplum. The peplum sits over another peplum on the dress. The dress under the jacket is drop-dead stunning. The bodice is a black rayon crepe and is fitted. The scalloped sweetheart neckline is trimmed in a little row of black sequins and is such a sexy little detail. It is attached to the back as a reversed halter, so it sits around the neck like a choker and drapes slinkily down the back to meet the dress. The bodice is fully boned for support so the halter does not take on any weight of the dress and won’t choke you. The bodice is fitted just past the waist and V’s down just over the hips in the front. The skirt is a very fitted pencil skirt that falls to the ankles. Starting on the sides at the waistline there is another peplum that follows the V in the back. There is also a sexy train detail in the back that is densely pleated. There is a little leg slit in the skirt that is hidden by the train so that you can walk in the skirt. This bodice is lined in a soft rayon acetate and is fully bonded with waist tape to help secure the gown. There is also a label on the bodice: Angie, Costumes and Gowns, New York.

Condition
The costume is in fantastic condition with only one small spot of color fade on the right side near the underarm. It is small and would not be seen when worn. The set is just so fabulous and is ready to wear
