This gold plated metal necklace is composed of individual links making this choker lay well around your neck. Each link measures 1 inch x .5 inch, each with a thick hollow ball on the ends of them. They are cast, open work components with a smooth texture and nice weight to them. It is a small average choker size 15 inches. It closes with a fold over box clasp with matching solid ball, original to the necklace which is stamped," BARTEK". The gold plating is in good condition, showing small signs of wear.
This metal necklace is circa 1950 and made by a high end costume jewelry maker of the time, Bartek. The first half of the 20th century was the heyday for well made costume jewelry sold from fine department stores to Woolworth, usually made in Europe or the United States. They were usually plated many times giving it a rich gold finish. The manufacture and quality of costume jewelry deteriorated in the latter part of the century making this era the last with enduring products.
NecromanceNola sells this type of vintage necklace often since it was well made and lasts.
