This is a truly magnificent Vintage late 1940's to early 1950's cocktail dress made by the infamous "Ceil Chapman". She was revered as a creator of super glamorous, timeless cocktail and party dresses and celebrity clients flocked to her for her gowns including Marylin Monroe who declared Ceil Chapman her favorite designer. This piece is no exception! It has a solid black taffeta underlayer with a sheer black corded "Ametex" lace overlay. The bodice is boned and features a sweetheart illusion neckline, a front keyhole tie opening with black mesh ruffled trim and 1/2 length dolman sleeves with shirring up each wrist. It has a fitted waist with an incredibly full, ankle length sweep. It has side snaps on the lace and a Talon metal zipper closure on the bodice. The lace hemline is edged with mesh stiffener allowing the skirt to stand out beautifully. This is a vintage lover's dream dress, it is completely and utterly breathtaking, and the details match that of the highest end 1950's couture fashions.

Excellent condition, seam, and fabric integrity. The taffeta under layer has a raw edge hemline - no other issues or imperfections.
