50's Unique Pinkish Purple Pleated Maternity Top$85.00
This unique maternity-style top is so fun and fashionable, I liked to wear it without being pregnant!
There's something really cool about this unique shirt. I love everything about it, starting with the interesting fabric choice -a shiny acetate in an odd purple-pink tone color. (My best guess is that this blouse is from circa 1940's because acetate and rayon replaced a lot of other fabrics during war rationing. However, acetate has been around since the turn of the 20th century, so it is possible that this piece is even older). The design is also really interesting, with its extra wide cut and boxy pleats to allow for an expanding belly. On top of all of this -literally- is a contrasting red topstitching, which i have taken the liberty of re-stitching (along with reinforcing some other seams for years more wear!). The v-neckline has a collar that likes to fall alongside the opening. The full length sleeves have turned-up, topstitched cuffs (that I personally liked to roll up). There are no labels or maker's marks. The overall condition is excellent with one tiny hole at left sleeve, some mild discoloration (which I love and think adds to it's interest) as well as very mild creasing to the fabric. Please see the photographs for full details.
