Here is a vintage, hand-painted salad plate made by Vernon Kilns in the Mayflower pattern. This pattern was only made between 1942-1953. It has an embossed edge. There is a chip on the underside that does extend partially to the rim of the plate (last three photos). The plate has been priced accordingly.
