40s 50s Dress Swing Watch Plaid Day New Old Stock$80.00
This late 1940s/early 1950s vintage day dress is truly charming, modest but so flattering! It's styled with a fitted bodice that has lightly padded shoulders and 3/4 length cuffed dolman sleeves. The four gore skirt is slim yet swingy. The plaid fabric is positioned on the bias for both top and bottom, and beautifully matched - a true sign of the quality seen in vintage garments. The curvy collar and the cuffs are piped in light yellow corduroy - the same fabric is used for the little crisscross collar tie, which is anchored by an adorable little metal bumblebee button.
Bust - 36" (91. 5cm)
Approximate shoulders - 16. 5" (42cm)
Waist - 24" (61cm)
Hips - 46" (117cm)
Sweep - 79" (200. 5cm)
Bodice length - 16" (40. 5cm)
Skirt length - 29" (73. 5cm)
FABRIC/COLORS: Medium weight fabric with nice draping qualities - based on a fiber burn test, most likely a cotton/rayon blend. The woven plaid is dark and sophisticated, using dark blue and pine green with black. Trim fabric is light yellow pinwale corduroy.
TAGS: No maker's tag, only a small size and lot tag inside the collar and a cardboard style and size tag haging from the belt thread loops.
CLOSURES: Sideseam metal zipper plus a short metal zipper at the back of the neck.
CONDITION: New old stock, never worn. The original belt is gone. There is some surface grime from storage on the corduroy sleeve piping - I would recommend dry cleaning and it should come out.
