Robert is my current favorite designer, and this brooch is why. It's big, it's flashy, it uses many materials, it's well made ... It is FABULOUS. You can see why Originals by Robert was a Hollywood favorite and why the company's jewels (yes, designed by a Robert!) were featured in films. You can also see the Miriam Haskell influence in the use of beads and other materials combined with metalwork, rhinestones, and a really big crystal. You can also see that Robert was catering to a clientele that really wanted luxe, even in the 1940s, and still loved the Victorian and Edwardian styles.

It presents really well, and the metal and rhinestones are bright. The one flaw I find is that the point of the big crystal seems to have lost some foil, which is noticeable as dead/gray spots at certain angles. I've tried to show those in photos.

But who is going to notice when there is so much gloriousness going on???
