Greentree
50's Cotton Conversation Print Cotton Dress and Jacket Set$155.00
Conversation prints hit the end of their peak around the time this dress set came into existence. Post-war society felt optimistic and happy coming out of WWII, and this was reflected in fashions of the day, featuring colorful prints with fun, conversation-inducing prints like the one seen here. What is it? A linear array of flower-like items at the center of atomic-looking medallions, in black, light pink & bright pink, on a white ground. Both pieces are unlined, and made of a light-to-medium weight cotton weave fabric. The dress is sleeveless, sheath silhouette, w/fitted bodice and skirt. The neckline of dress has a special, reticulated (cut-out) design that's so unique, I'm not sure I've ever seen anything quite like it before! Dress has a hidden pocket at right side hip, and metal zipper closure at left side seam. The short sleeve, matching fabric jacket features rounded lapel collar, up-turned cuffs, and deep red button, center front closure. One of the most charming details is the little scallop-edge style peplum that juts from the waist of the jacket! Only label reads 'Greentree'. The overall condition is excellent, w/little to no signs of wear and the only flaw being sun damage (fading) to right sleeve.
