Ahoy! Super fun nautically inspired rayon jersey dress with button neck detail and fabulous hip pockets. Made by Mary Dean. Belt not included. Great swingy skirt, perfect for dancing.
Good vintage condition. No marks I could find, but several seams have been reinforced, particularly at the waist and under the arms (pictured). The back darts are not centered, but this seems like a manufacturing flaw.
Fits like a M/L, but please note the shoulders are a bit narrow.
Detailed measurements:
Bust - 38 inches
Waist - 30 inches
Shoulder - just shy of 16 inches
Hip - best for up to 42 inches
Shoulder to waist - 17 inches
Waist to hem - 28 inches
Mary Dean was a Kansas City label owned by Margaret and Dean Jones, who started the company in 1922 and ran it together until Dean's death in 1949; Margaret died the following year. They created fun and practical sportswear and dresses for misses and juniors, and were particularly prolific with workwear and slack suits in the 1940s.
