This gorgeous 40s style vintage blouse, is actually 1980s, from Dorothy Schoelen, a well known fashion designer who founded Strawberry Plant in the mid-1970s with her then husband. The top has a rounded neckline and cap sleeves. It is gently fitted to the body with vertical tuck darts. The neckline is edged with brass beading, a luxe touch. I believe it originally had shoulder pads.
SIZE: Labeled P, with a hand written "size 7" on the fiber care tag.
Bust - 34"
Waist - 32"
Length - 22"
FABRIC/COLORS: The fabric is rayon crepe, in a gorgeous novelty print using rich shades of gold and black. The print features nostalgic looking photographs of women and girls - they look pre-1920s. Girls' names in a script font are also part of the print - Cathy, Jenny, Lisa, Anna, Michelle, and Jill Marie. Dorothy Schoelen has a daughter named Jill, known for her horror movie roles in the 1980s. Could her middle name be Marie?
TAGS: Platinum by Dorothy Schoelen
CLOSURES: Six small oval shiny silver colored plastic shank buttons down the back.
CONDITION: No stains, holes, or tears to the garment itself. One inner shoulder seam shows signs of a shoulder pad removed rather roughly - there are small divots in the seam allowance that do not affect wear. A former owner's name is written on the tag with a black marker. The weight of the brass neckline trim has caused a tendency for the edge to evert, showing a bit of the facing. I have added some hand stitching to encourage it to lie properly.
