40s Sheer Lace Dress Navy Blue$55.00
This late 1940s dress in navy blue sheer lace has a curved, square neckline, cap sleeves and a gently flaring skirt. Pairs of vertical darts shape the bust and the bodice is lined in sheer navy mesh, while the skirt is unlined. The tops of the shoulders are gathered. The dress fastens with a side metal zipper. In very good condition, this circa late 1940s dress has only one tiny issue: a small mend in the skirt (see close-up photo), unlikely to be noticed when it is worn. Our last photo shows the dress unpinned from the mannequin, to give a better idea of its actual size. Pair this lovely lace 1940s cocktail dress with a matching blue slip, or choose another color for contrast: pink? flesh-tone? purple? red? It's up to you! Like all fine lace dresses, especially pre-1960s, some care needs to be taken when wearing, since the nature of the material is relatively fragile. However, this dress (like all of our vintage items) has been cleaned and survived intact--so it should be fine to wear with reasonable care. (We also suggest allowing a bit more room to breathe/move than usual, as reflected in our fit measurements, to make sure not to strain the fabric.)
