40’s Dress Black White Cotton Gingham Bustle Back$85.00
This late 1940s dress in black and white gingham cotton has a fabulous bustle back skirt, constructed using vertical cartridge pleats to gather the skirt fabric. The rest of the dress silhouette keeps it sweet and simple, with a lace trimmed scoop neckline, cap sleeves, and a slightly raised waist seam in front, which curves down in back, to where the bustle pleating starts. The pretty neckline trim has a pattern of bows, adding an extra feminine touch! Overall, the dress has a narrow, streamlined shape, the only fullness at the bustle back, but with darts for shaping. The cotton gingham fabric is unlined, and should be comfortable on even a hot summer day. A metal zipper fastens the dress at the center back. In very good to near excellent condition, the dress has just the very faintest yellowing to the white portions of the black and white check print under the arms (see close-up photo). This late 1940s day dress has a subtly sexy style, both coming and going!
