Gorgeous cotton and silk-blend lightweight skirt suit. Circa 1940s.

The hourglass-shaped jacket is darted for a perfect fit. Features a wide black velvet platter collar and bracelet length folds up cuffed sleeves with the same black velvet.

Decorative non-functional hip arrow shape pockets with inset black velvet.

Does up the center front with seven 5/8" diameter self-covered flat buttons that are attached to the jacket by interior safety pins for ease in cleaning.

Bound buttonholes (a sign of a quality suit).

Small shoulder pads for shaping - can be easily removed with a few snips of the scissors if you prefer a natural shoulder line.

The bottom of the jacket is double layered creating a peplum as pictured.

The matching skirt features a 1" wide self-fabric waistband. Fastens with a concealed snap and hook and loop and a metal zipper on the left side.

The skirt features four flat pleats below the front waistband and vertical darts at the back below the waistband.

Both the jacket and the skirt are unlined and appropriate for warmer weather wear.

DESIGNER LABEL: None. This does appear to be commercially made so the label was probably lost at some time in its life.

CONDITION: Very good - There are no stains, rips, holes, snags, odors, fading, or discoloration.

The only thing is two very small areas on the back of the jacket where the fabric is starting to become thin. These are not holes and could be repaired by darning or small interior patches. The flaws are a) one near the sleeve seam (pictured above) about 3" above the underarm seam and b) the other on the sleeve itself very near the first flaw (also pictured above).

SIZING: There are no size tags. Based on the measurements below, I'd say this would best fit a modern size Medium to Large depending on how you like our fit. Please note that the waist could be expanded a bit by removing the waistband and opening up the front pleats directly below.
