Incredible 1940s dress in black rayon crepe. A bit of a wounded bird but still just so much to love here. I'll get to that further down. First lets point out the great bits. Those pockets for one, amazing with their pleated draping! Smocking in the front of the waist, capped Sleeves with shoulder pads and of course that sweetheart shaped lace bodice with the sequin trim! Oh and dont forget the beading around that neck and the keyhole opening below the throat! Label reads: none

Excellent to great to good vintage condition-depending on what you're looking at. The lace at the top has several holes. and most of the ivory silk lining under it is shattered. I would probably suggest replacing all of that, though it could be worn perhaps for a costume or photo shoot with some minor touchups. There is an inch and half tear in one armpit that I did not see when I was photographing it. Other than some pinhead sized holes, the skirt and the rest of the bodice are fairly perfect as is the beading round the neck. A clever seamstress could replace that lace and stabalize and repair that one tear and have a shockingly great dress for a very reasonable price. I would be asking more than double this without those flaws.
