40’s Black Dress with Sequin Detail$100.00
Solid black with peek-a-boo mesh keyholes around the collar and on the sleeves. Sequined trim around the keyholes, sleeves and ... POCKETS! Granted they are very small - you could probably fit a lipstick or house key in there, but they are still pockets!
Button closure in the back, side metal Talon zipper.
Perfect 1940's silhouette features shoulder pads, and gathers at waistband.
No tags to indicate maker or fabric, but my guess is that it is a rayon crepe. There is NO stretch.
Dress is being sold AS-IS. She is gorgeous and absolutely wearable, but is around 75-80 years old, so she has a few imperfections/wear & tear:
-Missing 2 buttons on back
-Sequins need repair, some areas the sequins have completely fallen off or are loose.
-There are some stains on the mesh keyholes (see photos).
-Some seams are starting to come a bit loose.
-There are a few minor pinholes (I noted one in a photo). Really not noticeable unless you look super close.
Other than the above mentions, I really could not find any major holes, tears, stains or other issues with the dress. I don't see any major sun fading or other discoloration. The photos may look light - I took them on a very sunny day.
In my opinion, she's in very good vintage condition! She only needs minor repairs and a wash.
