What an outstanding find from the estate of a dear friend! This gown was custom made in 1953 by Dorothea Gaines, Inc. a local seamstress to the elite brides of Lexington, KY. This wedding gown has all the bells and whistles. The skirt is a heavy white satin with a lovely, large train. The bodice is the same satin with heavily boned infrastructure and a stiff net structure over the hip to hold the peplum away from the body. The bodice is then overlaid with beautiful lace and trimmed with sequins. The sleeves are made of the same lace. The jewel neckline is created by an illusion tulle and trimmed with velvet. The jewel neck seems to be an add on and could be removed to create an off the shoulder look. Satin and Lace covered buttons close the back and the sleeves. Also included is the original headpiece and scull cap. The crown is beaded with white and cream beads on the front and back with added wax flowers and pearls on the back. The scull cap is beaded to match the gown with seed pearls. No damage or discoloration of any kind.
This gown is in Extra Excellent Vintage Condition. With a trip to a knowledgeable, professional cleaner you'll be ready to walk down the aisle.
