40s Day Dress Houndstooth Check Corduroy$70.00
This cool weather dress is most likely late 1940s, and simply styled. The bodice has a small collar, and is fitted with three narrow darts on each side of the waist and a deep dart from each shoulder. The three-quarter length sleeves are slightly gathered at the shoulders, and interesting cuffs that have been pieced and reinforced with twill tape inside for reasons that are not clear to me. The gored skirt is also pieced, with narrow gores added at the sideseams - see closeup with dress front to left of frame.

FABRIC/COLORS: Pinwale corduroy in a houndstooth checked print of black and cobalt blue, soft and medium weight. I believe this is cotton, which should mean machine washable.
TAGS: No tags at all. I believe this was custom sewn.
CLOSURES: There is a utility size black hook & eye at the waist. The bodice closes with 3 snaps, and there are 2 snaps for the short front placket below the waist.
CONDITION: No stains, holes, tears. I would recommend using some "FrayStop" or "Fray Check" to halt the small amount of fray starting inside the sleeve cuffs - see closeup.
