mid century 4 piece red lacquered serving set with intricate hand painted gold floral and peacock designs. The set includes 1 large serving tray/plate and 3 smaller plates. The pieces were hand made in Japan with intricate gold floral and elegant peacock designs in metallic gold off set by the deep red backgrounds. It could be used to serve or display a wide variety of items. Excellent condition.

The peacock is associated with the deity called Kannon in Japan. It is a symbol of compassion and kind-heartedness, and it is believed to have the power to counteract poison and invoke rain
