This tall, turban-shaped topper from the late 1930s or 1940s is technically a tricorn hat, with the wired, vertical section of the crown shaped into 3 sections. This outer section of the hat surrounds a rounded crown, hidden behind it. Kind of like an extra-tall, narrow pirate’s hat—YAAARRR! The fine-textured black felt crown has a narrow band of (slightly faded) grosgrain ribbon covering the wired top edge. In back, a separate section of curved felt hugs the back of the head, to help keep the hat in place, when worn. It could be tilted more forward than I have it shown in the photos, if preferred. This unusual 1930s-40s ladies’ hat is in very good condition, with only the faded ribbon trim as a minor issue to note.
