Really great find. I was asked to appraise a ton of old costumes from a local theater in my small town built in the early 1900s
As payment they allowed me to take a ton of cool old costumes and dresses.
I ended up with like a half dozen beautiful old handmade and custom-made dresses and costumes.
There are only two in what I would consider great condition. This is one. It has an age of course because I estimate this at about the late 40s. The dress is solid with no known material rot but does have some sun fade damage on areas. The fade is obvious if you look but lost in the folds and pattern pretty well. I do have a few more photos if you cannot see what I am saying just contact me. But even with these issues, the fabric is in amazing condition for age and the dress is still stunning and beautiful.
HUGE full skirt and metal zipper
I believe this is called Bark Cloth but probably a rayon?
Seems custom-made and was part of a lot of several I got from this old theater so hand-made in the '40s for some production I am pretty sure.
