This is just an insanely stunning late 30s early 40s luxurious purple silk velvet gown. The gown is high necked with 4 hooks and eyes on the left side, to get your head in/out. The gown has fantastic leg of mutton sleeves that have small shoulders pad at the top to support the volume. The cuffs of the sleeves are fitted to the wrist with tiny metal zippers. The bodice is fitted and has gorgeous ruching along the sides. The skirt is a simple A-line but it has so much volume, so much that it is almost a full circle. The gown slips over the head with the hooks and eyes at the neck and there is a side metal zipper. A gorgeous gown that erupts with the romance of old Hollywood glamor.

Condition:

The gown is in fantastic condition with only a few small flaws to note. There was a small tear in the left arm at the elbow that has been repaired and as it falls in the crease of the elbow where there is a slight gather it is really hard to see. There are also a few pinprick size holes that are scattered but are also hard to see and hidden in the pile of velvet. It has been professionally hand laundered. It does have a slight smell still when steamed but not noticeable otherwise. The gown is truly old Hollywood starlet glamor and is ready to wear.
