From afar, this pullwork piece looks fairly regular... until you take a closer look!

Pullwork is a really special style of 'lace' making, and one that has really fallen by the wayside. These piece are usually Victorian/Edwardian. But, since I have no way of truly knowing when this piece was made, I'm listing it as 1920's-40's, to err on the safe side. The base of this piece seems to be a linen or jute style (possibly hemp!) woven fabric. The woven threads are removed and pulled, and if you look closely, you can see how these threads are then woven or braided in different patterns to create the end result. White cotton threads are then woven through for contrast. This piece is so spectacularly made, that if you flip it to the reverse side, it is difficult to tell the difference (a sign of very fine embroidery work!). Overall condition is excellent, to near mint, with absolutely no flaws to note, and little to no signs of wear. Please review photographs for full details.
