This is a lovely 30s/40s cream white silk jacquard nightgown. The gown has a V-ed neckline and the bust is covered in stunning hand-sewn embroidered flowers and openwork details. The nightgown's armholes are scalloped. The neckline is also done in the same fashion. The gown is bias cut and falls to the ankles where the hem edges are also scalloped. The nightgown would have had a matching sash to cinch it in at the waist but it has been lost to time. The belt loops do remain. The gown has a tag: L’ELagance colorfast made in china and is marked a size 36 (Underbust measurement) The nightgown is also entirely hand-sewn with lovely finishes of french seams.
Condition:
The nightgown is in great overall condition with only one flaw to note. There are some pinprick size holes that are scattered around the bust. They are small and hard to see and do not affect the wearability or just how lovely this gown is. It has been professionally hand laundered and is ready to wear.
