1930s Suit blouse. Cloque wine and navy with peplum. Fashioned by Classy Jean. Bust 36. VFG.

FEATURES:

Beautiful lightweight cloque fabric in textured navy on a wine background.

Pleated sleeves at shoulder that taper and narrow at wrist.

Wrist has long row of buttons.

Many buttons down front with mandarin style collar. snap at waist. all buttons present- a couple could. use extra stitches.

Peplum finish. Peplum has double layer of fabric which gives it a nice shape.

Padding at top of shoulder/sleeve. Under arms are uniform in color- no stains. However threading on inside is a little stretched.

nice pleating and shape along bust.

I did a fiber burn test but was inconclusive. May be a silk blend? Uncertain.

Semi sheer at light but due to dark fabric design, it isn't see through.

CONDITION:

The fabric over all seems good, but there is a small tear on one arm that needs repair- about an inch long. It isn't a perfect line but circle that could be repaired/mended.

Some fade right long edge of collar, and this is more visible on inside. and some of the buttons also have slight fade or shine to fabric. Over all some gentle fade but nothing that is distracting. You can see the original colors on the inside of the peplum, that are naturally more vibrant. Still nice coloring.

All the fabric is off on both wrist buttons- so its a gunmetal tone to wear as is, or replace with other buttons of your choice.

Well made garment with luxury fabric, seam tape, nice details. Almost 80-90 years old so for that age, well. I believe this can be carefully worn. Use as a study piece. etc. I think it was at one time part of a suit. I would love to see the skirt!
