Vintage late 30s to early 40s cotton striped chore or work day dress.
Medium weight blue and white stripe cotton day dress with a peaked collar, short gathered sleeves, front panel, and attached self fabric sash belts attached to the dress.
Small shoulder pads extend into the top of the sleeve itself creating a small peaked look.
Center front panels are laid on the diagonal as pictured. The fabric is ruched in the bust area and gathered at the bottom where it is sewn to the center panel.
Adjustable self fabric sash belts to tie in the back to adjust the fit.
Pulls on the head - fastens with three self fabric loops and buttons.
I'm 5'4" and this comes to the middle of my calf. It may be shorter or longer on you depending on your height.
I believe this was a work or chore dress of the late 1930s to early 1940s. Perhaps this was originally worn as a domestic uniform of some sort.
It is has some hand sewn alterations which I have left in place.
Unlined. No pockets.
DESIGNER LABEL: Only a small size tag remains.
CONDITION: Excellent with no odors, discoloration, stains, fading, snags, pulls, holes, or runs.
Gently worn and very well cared for. Freshly cleaned and ready to wear.
SIZING: Tagged a vintage size 44. Based on the measurements below, this dress will best fit a modern size Medium.
