20th century Bulgarian Embroidered Peasant Blouse from Romania. The blouse is made of natural linen (cotton mix?) and decorated with elaborate hand embroidery and heavy. The embroidery is made up of some birds and flowers. The collar has 3 blue buttons at the top and 1 in the middle. The motifs are created using a combination of color and thread embroidery along the sleeves and around the collar. The embroidery is very high quality and shows an incredible attention to detail. The blouse dates to the early 20th century and is completely handmade. Intentional openings under the armpit. Please note that the blouse features a traditional cut and is not shaped the same way as contemporary blouses so the fit will be different if you plan on wearing this piece. The base fabric has a light pink tint to it. Despite these minor issues, the blouse remains a beautiful example of handmade peasant clothing from Eastern Europe. Good Antique condition - slight color transfer from embroidery to fabric; This is a rare Bulgarian folk costume blouse worn by the Bulgarian minority in southwestern Romania.
