20s Overdyed Lilac Purple Silk Lace Camisole Slip$105.00
Here's your chance to own a wearable 1920's garment, uniquely dyed twice...
After washing and stain-treating this little silk camisole/slip (depending on your size/height!), there were some light rust stains that would not lift. So, I decided to have a little fun and dyed it lilac purple. It came out a very pale version of the color, post vinegar and post-dye washing, so... I though, 'what the heck', and slipped it into another dye bath!! Another post-dye vinegar and washing later, here's a two-toned piece!! The upper bodice, straps and hem are made from a (most likely cotton) hand tatted lace featuring a multitude of patterns, including diamonds, and scallop edging (upon close inspection, you may see that the zig-zag pattern within the lace is actually a tad bluer in tone). The main body is made of a lightweight, semi-opaque silk crepe fabric, which ends up having some beautiful variations in color tone. Overall condition is very good, with some small repairs throughout, a few tiny areas of thinned fabric, and a 2-inch area which took the purple dye stronger, at both front and back. Please see photographs for full details. No labels or maker's marks.
