This magnificent swing/cocoon coat from the 20s is made of a lush royal blue silk velvet. The coat has just wonderful art deco styling starting with the collar that is densely gathered by smocking and stands popped at the back of the neck. There is a little velvet flower at the back of the neck too that is just a sweet little detail. The coat hangs open and loose with no fastenings. The coat has long sleeves with the best shape; they are like bishop sleeves and puff out mid-forearm with more stunning smocking and have a slightly more fitted cuff. The coat has the drop waist silhouette of the decade and is gathered at the center waist with a large velvet flower that overlaps the other side. (If you wanted you could add a fastener here as it seems like there should be, but I found no signs that there had been one.) There is also a row on each side of over a dozen little faux buttons that decorate the sides. The back of the coat is simple and hangs straight down to the knees. The coat is lined in a cream textured silk.

Condition:
The coat is overall in wonderful condition with very little to note. There are a few small holes in the lining that are pin-head sized. There is also slight discoloration to some spots on the coat where it has a slight green tone. Most noticeable is on the back but is hard to see. Otherwise, the coat is in fantastic condition and is ready to wear.
