It's so rare to find these large dress clips–much less as a matched pair! These gorgeous silver metal clips are almost 2.5" long and 1.75" at their widest point. The intertwining leaves, branches and flowers are designed in the art nouveau style.

Used as decorations on sweetheart and square necklines, they were first popularized in the twenties and enjoyed wide usage until the 1950s when they fell out of favor. For women of an earlier century these provided a way to transition a dress easily from daywear to evening.

Today they are collectible and often worn in a similar way, or to adorn hats, scarfs, and boots.

This lovely pair would make an appreciated gift to the vintage jewelry collector. Because of their size, these are best used on a dress with more structured material and would look striking on holiday reds or an autumn green.

From our "Indiana Collection" these dress clips have been well-cared-for. However, as is frequently the case with vintage costume jewelry metals upon inspection I discovered the first hint of verdigris dots on the back. The clips have since been cleaned in vinegar which renders it invisible and arrests the progress–however they must be cleaned similarly from time to time to prevent it from returning. It is important that these clips are not kept with other pot metal costume jewelry.
