40's Heavy Silver Tone Rope Chain Necklace$35.00
This chain necklace is an antiqued silver tone metal. The multiple, round chain links measure a quarter inch in diameter, making this a thick chain in the rope style. Each link has a textured, split stamping in each. The necklace length is 24 inches long. The quarter inch clasp is original to the necklace and still functional. This clasp is an unusual ," sister clasp" patented by Monet in the 20's. This chain is bold and weighty, but light enough to wear. It is 1/4 inch ( 6mm ) thick.
This chain was made by Monet and has a Monet tag on the clasp connection.
NecromanceNola sells this type of vintage necklace often since it was well made, usually plated multiple times and had unique design. The silver tone plating is still in excellent condition.
This metal necklace is circa 1940 and made by a high end costume jewelry maker of the time. The first half of the 20th century was the heyday for well made costume jewelry sold from fine department stores to Woolworth, usually made in Europe or the United States. The manufacture and quality of costume jewelry deteriorated in the latter part of the century making this era the last with enduring products. NecromanceNola LOVES vintage, unusual chain, so please check the vintage chain section of our store for more. Plain chains when worn with other necklaces add depth and diversity to your outfit.
