20s Darling Red Cotton Gingham Dress Hand Embroidered$225.00
This is a darling 20s red cotton gingham printed dress. The dress is simple with sweet details. It has a high square neckline with white cotton eyelet lace. The front panel fastens with a hook and eye on the side. The placket is hidden at the neckline and splits down to the center of the bust. The sides of the center panel are decorated in lovely cross stitch-like embroidery that is all hand done. These patterns continue down to the drop waist where there are shell button details on a faux belt at the waist. The skirt is slightly gathered and falls just past the knees. The dress also has long sleeves with fun slightly frilly cuffs and more lovely embroidery. The dress was homemade and is so finely made with such care and superbly done finishings. I like to think that a Victorian grandmother made it for her granddaughter to wear to some special event.
Condition:
The dress overall is in great condition with only one flaw to note. There is some very faint fading to the front in the skirt. It is not super noticeable overall and does not take away from just how lovely this dress is. It has been professionally hand laundered and is ready to wear.
Sizing
The dress is a pull-on over-the-head style and will need some wiggle room to get it on. Also, it is hard to say if the dress was for an older child or a young woman as this size is more commonly a woman's size. The arm holes are quite small, only fitting up to 14”. As this is the most restrictive part of the dress, please look at this measurement first. Because of this, I would say the dress is best fit for an XS, maybe a small.
