This is a favorite frock, which gives so much of what we love from the 1930s--the lace, the fluttery capelet sleeves, and most of all the back ... The Thirties were ALL about the back! V-shaped cut-outs over the shoulder blades look gorgeous with the movement of the sleeves.

One of the best features here isn't intentional but a sign of time's passing. The lace started out a shade of periwinkle blue but mellowed to the lavender shade that your monitor should be showing you. The periwinkle still exists in a few isolated spots, such as the folds of the sleeves over the underarms. This is NOT a perspiration discoloration! The color began blue and became purple. It's really very wonderful. I show the variation in one photo.

I don't consider the color change to be a flaw. In fact, I can find only two actual flaws: one small, slight brownish discoloration (pictured) and some stitches come undone at the waist, about an inch worth (also pictured). The stitches would be easy to fix; I just don't want to do it with polyester thread unless somebody asks me to. The stain might soak or spot-clean out; I have not tried.

I don't find breaks in the lace, but there may be some small ones I've missed. I've done my best to examine this dress and have loved it for more than a decade, but vintage frocks can be sneaky.

For photo taking, I put a periwinkle/lilac slip underneath--otherwise there wasn't enough contrast. You may have this slip if you want it, but it has several tears and holes and will not hold up to wear.

This dress is meant to be a bit loose and to drape. I did not pin anything to the mannequin. The dress slips on over the head and has no zipper, snaps, or other closures--take all that into account when determining fit.

From a nonsmoking, pet-loving environment.

Thank you for looking!
