20s/30s Deco Era Victorian Shell Cameo Necklace Bracelet$75.00
Cameos, whorled silver, and deep sapphire-blue glass--what else do you need? Made in the art deco era--most likely the 1930s--this set uses so many Victorian touches, like the little silver stars and ... the shell cameos! To me, these look like somebody's Italian mamma, her hair in a bun, waiting for her son to call ...
Condition is vintage good. You can see the silver has worn away in places, and some of the base metal (brass? bronze?) has discolored. The bracelet has its original plain flat hook, which is great, but it has rusted a bit, which is not so great.
One peculiarity of that bracelet--the center panel, the one with the cameo, is fairly long but flat (please see the photo with the ruler to get a sense of how big each element is). You might want to bend it slightly for wear.
Measurements
bracelet: 7.25 wearable inches (but remember that flat center panel)
necklace: 18 inches around, 1.25 on the pendant drop
the necklace cameo lozenge is about 5/8 x 3/8; the bracelet cameo is almost 1/2 x almost 3/8
each blue glass piece is 1/2 x 3/8
This set presents beautifully and was one of *the* sets to have at the time. It is just beautiful on.
From a nonsmoking, pet-loving environment.
