First of all, this set is GOLDEN YELLOW, with a slight greenish tint. For some reason, it shows as chartreuse green on my monitor and everywhere else I look at the photos. I cannot get the color to correct to the way it looks in real life to me.

Color is truest in the pictures with the lavender-gray background. But they don't show the beautiful detail of the shimmer in the faux guilloche. Argh!!

There is a tinge of green to the yellow, but it is a yellow set. I am sorry I can't get the photos to show perfectly, because it is a wonderful color on its own.

This set includes
a big mirror (13 inches tall)
a round mirror with a movable handle
a hairbrush
a nail buffer (the long oval item) with a wooden frame around the buffing part (so cool)
a cuticle trimmer/pusher-back
a nail file
a frosted glass box, round, for powder or receiving hair, with a nice lid

What to love about this set: It shimmers! Even when it doesn't look green, it looks magical! The brass is a good weight, with a lovely design set into the straight handles. And I adore the little round mirror. It moves on its handle, so you can use it to check your hair or your pores from any angle.

Condition & Flaws:
This set is in good vintage condition and displays very well. The brass is fantastic, although somebody who polished it left a bit of white powder in the grooves. That's a minor issue ... There's also a little silvering on the big mirror, hard to capture. Obviously the bristles have fallen out of the hairbrush--about 30 to 50 percent of them--but you probably weren't planning to brush your hair with it anyway. The shoe horn is loose in its handle and would not be truly useful for putting on shoes now. There are also little smutches throughout; please study the photos carefully.

All in all, I could see Lady Edith using a set like this ... but she'd get real gold and real guilloche, of course, and she'd be paying thousands.
