20’s Teal Green Sequin Tear Shape French Pin$40.00
These pins are deadstock (new, never worn) from Mimi Millinery Pty Ltd in Australia -direct to me from the granddaughter & daughter of the original owners. Mimi Millinery was the largest Millinery supply house in the Southern Hemisphere. They sold everything, including but not limited to, vintage hoods, braids, veiling, flowers, French hat pins, & French straw. The company no longer exists but a few of these deadstock pieces exist from the 1920's -1940's. This pin is handmade, from France, and comes in a teardrop-ish shape, w/open center. The shape is made from a twisting cluster of tiny (early!) plastic sequins in a teal green color, w/aurora borealis effect (has rainbow hues in the light). Along the inside rim of this shape are four rows of strands of bugle (cut glass) beads in teal and silver. At the base of this teardrop shape is a circle of twisted sequins, centered w/a pale green faux pearl. Also, an interesting & unique detail: projecting from one inner edge is a row of plume-like pailettes/spangles of plastic, in pale teal green, white & vivid pink colors (look closely at back photo to see the clever use of beads & sequins, to 'fan out' these plume pieces). This piece was originally meant as a notion for hats (or clothing) & has been modified to be worn a s a modern-day pin. Overall condition is like new w/light signs of storage wear but no flaws. Please see photographs for full details.
