60's Couture Victorian Revival Purple Velvet Long Sleeve Dress
$144.00
$180.00
What a unique dress! This beauty was hand made by a California fashion designer in the 1960's. She made it as a one-of-a-kind, special piece for herself. It's Victorian Revival silhouette is truly unique with corset-like style lines that flatter the waistline, unique pleating at the elbows of the sleeves, and a high collar / deep-v neckline. The dress was fashioned out of a buttery smooth deep lavender velvet and a hand crocheted lace-motif trim. There is a hidden zipper closure in the back. No details were spared..it has hidden pockets at the side seam and even the inside has hidden lace trimming!
Condition:
Excellent condition with no rips or stains. Comes from a smoke free home.
Fun side note: It was sewn with a Talon zipper which was the first zipper manufacturing company, founded in 1893. The company flourished through the 1960s when it is estimated that 7 out of every 10 zippers were Talon zippers. Talon dominated the zipper marketuntil the 1980's, when Japanese manufacturer YKK seized the zipper throne and has held it since.
