Some Llewellyn History - In 1951 Jewel Plastic Corp. and Fre-Mor Corp. announced the formation of a new handbag firm to be known as Llewellyn. Their trademark was "Lewsid Jewel by Llewellyn. Llewellyn Bley was the designer genius behind the Llewellyn handbag line. He learned the skill of ivory cutting from his father. He was then able to transfer that skill to the lucite handbags. He used novelty shapes, rhinestones, beads, pearls, and antique metal embellishments. That is what the filigree sections look like on this handbag. If they were not antique then they are now. Just think in the early 1950's their handbags retailed from $15 to $65. At that time a two bedroom apartment in New New was $75 a month.
Measurments - Length - 8"
Width - 4. 5"

Near MINT Condition - This Rare Lucite Handbag is in Near MINT Condition. The front, back, and bottom of this handbag are virtually flawless. On the sides, and just a few on top, there are what look like teeny bubbles, but with the carved pattern it is not that noticeable (see the 4th photograph). The handle has a couple of tiny rough spots on the back left side. This is a FABULOUS handbag for any Lucite Collector and would be a Fabulous Evening Bag for Special Occasions!
