Designed by the famous Alexey Brodovich, who gave Richard Avedon, and others, their start, this magazine is a Who's Who of photography and art. Photographers include Brassai, Horst, Luise Dahl-Wolfe, Elliott Erwitt, Clarence John Laughlin, Lillian Bassman, George Platt Lynes, and many others. Artists include Salvadore Dali, Modigliani, and famous brands include Schiaparelli, Chanel, Dior, Balenciaga, Lord and Taylor and Lilli Ann. There is one car ad ( a red Oldsmobile). Diana Vreeland was one of the editors. Almost every page is a delightful reminder of how elegant women once dressed. I think it was the gloves! hahaha! Anyway, this is my favorite time period of fashion...elegant fashion, not the bobby socks teen fashion that people think of when you mention the 50's. I saw another issue ( same one) selling for $120, in about the same condition. Binding is very secure.. Mine has a few minor flaws, but overall, it is in good condition, with a few bent pages ( see close up) that then disappear, about a quarter of the way in. In my opinion, the small flwas do not at all take away from the enjoyment of time traveling through the 274 pages of photographs, stories, features, and ads. The Cover has a mark and pen squiggle, that I was ( with your permission) cover with a vintage mailing label from one of my old LOOK magazines, but only if you desire me to do so.
