Tina Leser Original
50’s Striped and Embellished Green Velvet High Waisted Toreador Pants$495.00
These ultra rare, authentic Tina Leser Original pants hail from the 1950’s! In the 1950s, women needed clothes for an increasingly casual lifestyle, and Leser's pieces were casual but sophisticated. People were entertaining at home, and many of Leser's ads during the 1950s show a relaxed hostess curled up in a pair of her slacks and a comfortable tunic. She perfected (some references say "invented") the slim toreador pants of the 1950s, which were often paired with exotic tunics or cashmere sweaters trimmed with embroidered edgings. This beauty are a wonderful example of Leser’s use of color and design. They boast a gorgeous striped velvet fabric and hand embroidered floral pizazz around the size slit pockets and front waistband. It closes with a side seam metal talon zipper and three hooks. It has it’s original label inside the waistband but does not have a size tag. It fits like a small (measurements below) and the silhouette is a classed toreador pant: high waisted and cropped pant length. It was previously owned by Joyce Kim Lee, an Emmy Award-winning Costume Designer, with more than 25 years of experience. She designed costumes for over 50 productions in theatre, opera, and dance and worked on over 30 tv and movie projects. This piece was from her costume collection and was used on set or stage….who knows what piece of Hollywood History this piece holds!
