Pair of antique ornate and extremely large andirons with firedog iron bars for holding your fire logs. The large iron bards hold up the firewood to allow a draft of air to pass through and generate burning. Meanwhile the forward facing andirons are a piece of artwork for your home! These handsome pieces were made in the early 1900's and are very very heavy and large in size. Standing at 30" tall the bases are designed to look like claw feet topped with regal flying horses and a central lion holding a knocker. Above the ornate and regal bases sit art nouveau style round piece...stunning! The andiron reached its peak of artistic development under Louis XIV of France. They saw a huge surge in popularity between the 1880s and 1920s, and this is where the majority of antique andirons come from. It's a regal statement piece for your fire place or simply for dramatic decor!

Condition: Great antique condition with no structural damage. Aged patina could be polished if you prefer a newer look.
