The Art Nouveau period began at the end of the Victorian Era and went into 1910. Some of the pieces that came from that time had a Victorian feeling to them. This is one of them.The clasp and chain tell us this piece was made somewhere between 1901 and 1910. It is a brass piece with beautiful detail work. There are several flowers accented with black enamel and a row of faux pearls. This was a more affordable option than it's gold couterparts with similiar designs. It measures 14 inches to the top of pendant and finishes with a spring ring clasp.This necklace came from the same estate as the Suffragette necklace that is also available in this section.There is some darkening to the chain from wear and time. This can be gently brightened with vinegar or brass-o if desired. Many people feel the patina is part of the story of the necklace and that is why I leave it there.
